East Harlem Rezoning

This past Monday, November 19, the East Harlem Studio attended the City Properties & Land Use Committee meeting of Community Board 11. Hunter Armstrong, the Executive Director of Civitas, was in attendance, as were the Chair, Vice Chair and District Manager of CB 11. Several development scenarios of the East Harlem Rezoning were explained in a clear and detailed manner by George Janes and Associates. A recent version of the presentation is available in pdf form here (the area in discussion is between Madison and Lexington Avenues and 115th and 132nd Streets). The scenarios developed out of a series of community meetings over the past several months on which locations were best suited for development opportunities and which areas the community would like to preserve and protect. The committee is expected to beginning voting on the scenarios soon at upcoming community board meetings .
